Art Deco
With my Deco triptych I wanted to reflect the spirit of the Roaring Twenties: a time of immense social change, female empowerment, and groundbreaking design.
My Muse for this Series
The Flapper
More than just a fashion icon, the flapper represented a woman breaking free from convention. I aimed to capture their confidence, their bold defiance, and their sophisticated allure in each gaze and pose.
Architectural Geometry
The clean lines, bold symmetry, and radiating sunbursts of Art Deco architecture and design were a huge influence on the backgrounds and even the structure of the figures themselves. I played with interlocking shapes and sharp angles to give each piece that distinctive graphic punch.
The Power of Color
I chose a vibrant, high-contrast palette of sapphire blues, rich oranges, gleaming golds, and stark blacks to reflect the era’s opulence and theatricality. These colors aren’t just decorative; they’re integral to the emotional landscape of each portrait.
This series is my homage to an unforgettable period — a visual love letter to the women and aesthetics that dared to be different.
